Week Two - Day 4

Well we've come to a bump in the road. Sunday Zeus started to limp really badly and it didn't improve by yesterday (monday) so I took him into the clinic. They did x-rays and everything looks great! Plate is still in place, it looks fabulous...but he is still limping. So I am to keep him on Metacam until he improves. Well this morning he was worse then yesterday, he tried to walk on three legs which wasn't working very well and once we got outside he was walking better but still holding it up any chance he got. I'm really not sure what to think or do! I feel helpless!

He wasn't all that interested in his food Monday unless I held the bowl for him while he laid in his bed, last night he wouldn't eat, and this morning he ate half his food.

The surgeon said if he doesn't improve at home to have him re-checked again.

I really am not sure what to do

Very fast it will become completely well and will forget this small adventure.
Makes patience and the Zeus will become again fast and possible.

What a beautiful puppy you have!! And for what he has been through it sounds like he is doing great, minus the set back :( But I'm sure that his lameness is nothing to worry about, and I'm sure it will get better soon. The most important thing is that the vet said the plate looks great!! It is great for me to hear stories about dogs having both knees done, because it looks like my girl, Sadie, who has had her left knee done, will need her right once she is healed and playing again. So it's great to hear that both legs really are possible. Thanks for sharing your story and good luck with the rest of the recovery!!!

I read the rest of you blog, but never got a follow up on this post. My dog had TPLO 2 weeks ago and just last night yelped for the first time and now goes between walking and limping. What happened in Zeus's case? Did he just start feeling better?

Hello, I had a similar experience with my Fila Mateo. Mateo had TPLO on June 10th. He was instantly putting weight on it and walking around perfectly (well w/ a slight limp) but just Sunday morning he was really stiff and is not putting really any weight on it. Same with today (Monday). The vet told me that maybe he over did it when we had some guests over on Saturday and now just needs some rest. Has that been your experience with Zeus or any one else out theres dog? I'm worried maybe he bumped something and I didn't see it. Any feedback would be great!
